Golden Globes 2017: ‘La La Land’ are Decorated with Record Win and ‘Moonlight’ is Honoured Best Drama Award

74th Golden Globes night brought blows to Donald Trump from Meryl Streep, record-breaking accomplishments and heavy contenders for upcoming Oscars.

The cast and creators of La La Land are honoured by Golden Globes awards, specifically Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone who were respectively awarded Best Performance by an Actor/Actress in a Motion Picture, Musical or Comedy. This was amongst the title’s ample 7 awards from the night – Golden Globe record! Damien Chazelle, Director of La La Land secures this year’s win for Best Director, completing the title’s joyous night. Watch out Oscars!

Building upon its esteemed accolades, ‘Moonlight’ takes home the Best Motion Picture, Drama award. Are we seeing a contender for Best Picture at the Oscars? After recently winning Best Picture at the National Society of Film Critics awards, it seems more likely to be nominated, for sure.

The true highlight of the event was Meryl Streep’s speech as she accepted the Cecil B. DeMille award. “Disrespect invites disrespect” were the heavy words she used in response to Donald Trump’s humiliating imitation of a disabled reporter.
